On February 9, 1838, a meeting was held at the Angola Schoolhouse for the purpose of formally organizing a Methodist Episcopal Church to serve the needs of local residents. On that same day, the congregation’s newly elected trustees received a deed for land at this location, on which “a house or place of worship” was built. Constructed largely through the efforts of the first pastor, Reverend William Connelly, the building was named Connelly’s Chapel in his honor. The first structure was replaced by the present sanctuary in 1876. The name was shortened to Conley’s in 1978. The adjoining cemetery was established by the 1860s.

SC-220. Installed in 2008.
