The Child Welfare Commission was created in 1921 to assume the duties of, and further develop the child welfare activities of the Reconstruction Commission of the State of Delaware. The Commission was charged with maintaining a mobile child health center to service rural areas of the State; cooperating with any other official organizations in any way that would further advance the cause of child welfare; studying the needs of children; and making recommendations for executive and legislative action in matters relating to children.1
The Commission was short-lived, though; its duties were assumed, in 1923, by the State Health and Welfare Commission.2
