Fighting for Fair Housing: A Historical Journey from National Struggles to Delaware's Stand

Join us for an enlightening historical presentation exploring the national fight for fair housing and the powerful legislation that aimed to dismantle housing discrimination across the United States. Starting with what forms of housing discrimination existed then moving on to the fight for justice, we’ll uncover the pivotal moments and policies that shaped the battle for equal housing opportunities. Through historic images, case studies, and firsthand accounts, we’ll uncover how systemic discrimination in housing shaped communities across the country and how federal legislation attempted to address it.

Then, we’ll turn our focus to Delaware, where ordinary citizens, civil rights leaders, advocacy groups, and even the youth challenged discriminatory practices in their own neighborhoods. Discover the local stories of resistance, legal action, and community organizing that contributed to the broader movement for housing justice. This program sheds light on the challenges, victories, and ongoing work in the pursuit of fair and equitable housing for all.
