UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT
The U.S. Judiciary Act of 1789 established thirteen district courts and three circuit courts with both concurrent and appellate jurisdiction. It also explicitly provided for a Supreme Court that would review decisions of state courts and nullify state laws that violated the U.S. Constitution or the laws and treaties made under it.¹
Delaware’s unique northern circular boundary has been the subject of more than one court battle here over the years. The Delaware Public Archives contains records of those court cases.
