SWEDISH 325TH ANNIVERSARY COMMISSION
At this time, we can find no document authorizing the creation of this organization. We only know that it was responsible for planning the commemoration of the 325th anniversary (1638-1963) of the first permanent settlement in the State of Delaware.
We do know that Governor Elbert N. Carvel issued, on March 18, 1968,¹ a proclamation that established March 29, 1963 as Delaware Swedish Colonial Day in Delaware to commemorate that anniversary.
