Details:

The Delaware International Speedway Historical Marker marker recognizes the history of the Delaware International Speedway and US 13 Dragway, which began when the Cathell family purchased farmland near Delmar to build a drag strip in 1963. A dirt speedway was added in 1965 and relocated to the east side of the drag strip in 1969. The track has hosted the annual Camp Barnes Benefit Stock Car Race since 1972. The Cathell family continues to own and operate the Delaware International Speedway facility.
