UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT
The U.S. Judiciary Act of 1789 established thirteen district courts and three circuit courts with both concurrent and appellate jurisdiction. It also explicitly provided for a Supreme Court that would review decisions of state courts and nullify state laws that violated the U.S. Constitution or the laws and treaties made under it.1
Delaware’s unique northern circular boundary has been the subject of more than one court battle here over the years. The Delaware Public Archives contains records of those court cases.
