Old Newspapers on Microfilm
The other day when a mother stopped in before her son’s all-star game. Her son was playing in his second tournament. Last year was such a whirlwind she really didn’t have much time to think about it. So this year she wanted to take some time and learn more about Delaware baseball tournaments. She knew there was more than French fries, traveling to other towns, and losing her voice the next day.
She was surprised at all the old newspapers we have on microfilm. She pulled several from the month of July and found lots of information about past tournaments. She couldn’t believe all the photos we have of baseball in general. She also got a kick out of the 1946 recording called “The Blue Pebble Gang” and Bill Campbell in Wilmington interviewing Bob Carpenter about the 1949 Phillies baseball team.
