The official sesquicentennial commemoration of the American Civil War kicked off today with a ceremony held at the Delaware Public Archives.  Attended by Governor Jack Markell, the event highlights the new online exhibit of Civil War holdings from the collections of the Archives.  This new online feature (which went live today!) on the website CivilWar.delaware.gov includes photographs, documents, and drawings from the Civil War era. The site will expand as more Civil War materials are added throughout the year.  A new YouTube video focusing on our Civil War holdings is also featured with this new online collection Civil War Resources at the Delaware Public Archives.  If you are interested in the First State’s role in the Civil War – this collection is where you want to start!
