This 1842 oversize plot, found in the Legislative Papers Collection, shows a section of the boundary line between Kent and Sussex County
On February 15, 1841 in the House of Representatives, a resolution was passed “providing for the establishment of a division line between Kent and Sussex Counties.” John Sorden and Andrew Stafford of Sussex County and William Tharp and Peter Callaway of Kent county were appointed commissioners to run and mark the division line from the head of Riggs Mill pond to the Maryland line. Their findings would be returned to the next General Assembly.
Legislative Papers were generated by the General Assembly and reflect the functions and activities of the General Assembly. This collection includes accounts, acts and bills, communications, elections, petitions, resolutions, reports and summons.
