Index cards used to track various types of welfare, adoption, employment, and welfare assistance appeal cases.
Scope and Contents:
The adoption cards (ca. 1934-1943, 1962-1963) may show names of the child, mother, and adoptive parents, address of mother and adoptive parents, date born, referred date, date case closed, referred by, and case workers name. Adoption cards are also interfiled with the welfare assistance cards. These cards (ca. 1934-1943)show the name of the recipient, address, referred date closed date, referred by, name of case worker, and type of assistance needed. “Advice of Employment” cards (1937-1945) show the name of department, date name of employee, address, employee job title, race, rate of pay, and signature of agency head. Index cards to welfare assistance appeals (1948-1956) show the name and address of the recipient, date of appeal, reason for appeal, date of hearing, and outcome of the hearing.
