American Civil War RecordsThese service records contain the soldier's name, rank, and unit. The records are abstracted from muster rolls, regimental returns, descriptive books, and other records. They may contain documents such as enlistment papers, substitute certificates, casualty sheets, medical descriptions, death reports, and prisoner-of-war memorandums and correspondence.
