Getting The Word Out! part 1
During the nineteenth century, broadsides were an effective method of disseminating information to the public. This 1837 broadside called for the citizens of New Castle County to gather in a public meeting to discuss their displeasure with the State legislature.
Getting the Word Out!
The citizens of New Castle County felt it was their right to decide where the courts of justice would be located. The decision of where to put the courts was brought up in the General Assembly and died three different times. The citizens decided to meet and make a petition to send to the General Assembly requesting they be part of the process.
Broadsides are located in the Department of State collection. Within this collection are records associated with the office of the Secretary of State. This collection includes anything from The Division of Historical and Cultural Affairs to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
